Medical Training Therapy in the Health Center
In summer 1998, Anarchitekton GmbH was called in by Daniel L. Meili, Basel, to accompany the restructuring measures of the physiotherapeutic operation of the foundation hospital Sanitas in Kilchberg (Zurich). Following an intense research phase and studies of diverse operational and spatial varieties, the hospital management decided to found a separate profit center –the Carefit MTT (medical training therapy)– in the former staff building and to remodel the ground floor and basement space to form a modern training center. The Carefit MTT was designed to ensure the smooth transition from the “healing” physiotherapy to the supplementary rehabilitation training with emphasis on a systematic cardiovascular training. The quintessential structural alteration was the provision of the former courtyard with a smoothly sloping glass roof to gain a generous training space and creating a light-flooded atmosphere for the new center.
